Based: Plymouth with some home working
Rate: £31,347.75
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Fixed term Contract for 10 months
Hours: 37 hours Monday to Friday 9am – 5.00pm
Our client, a specialist Children’s Charity is looking for a Lead Practitioner to lead on the service operational response to vaping of illegal drugs in Plymouth.
Synopsis of duties:
- Lead on the service operational response to vaping of illegal drugs in Plymouth
- Developing practice and response to vaping incidents
- Support the wider substance misuse team to develop knowledge and skill relating to vaping and support team members to provide support for children who are vaping
- To contribute to policy development / refinement at a city / school / settings level
- To deliver support and intervention to CYP who have are vaping illegal drugs
- To ensure close working relationships with Schools (all phases), Police; Youth Service, Trading Standards; PCC Targeted Support and CSC.
- The role is required to develop an effective collaboration with the vaping role within the Youth Service.
- Train, coach and support multi-disciplinary professionals to increased knowledge awareness and competence to respond to vaping by children and young people.
- To be a credible ambassador promoting the aims of the organisation and be a champion for the rights and welfare children and young people in the region.
- To maximise the opportunities for young people to grow, have influence and find a voice through empowerment and participation in the service, and the wider society.
- To be accessible as a specialist practitioner/offer consultancy to allied professional and voluntary agencies.
- To act as a referral service to medical treatment or adult treatment services.
- To provide advice, support, consultation and training to relevant staff.
- To contribute to the delivery and development of the Young Person’s Substance Misuse Plan, Young Person’s Alcohol Action Plan.
- To participate in & be an active member of the young person’s substance misuse team.
- Collate and monitor relevant data in line with local and national requirements.
- To maintain accurate records
- To work within Child Protection and Safeguarding guidelines and procedures.
- To actively pursue equality of access to services and operate within a framework of anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities policy.
- To contribute to the development of services for young people
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of working with young people
- Experience of substance misuse (drugs and alcohol) and awareness of national and local initiatives
- Knowledge of the criminal justice process, specifically in relation to young people.
- Knowledge of child/adolescent development and young personcentred interventions
- Working within a multi agency and legislative framework
- Full Driving Licence with own Vehicle
- Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
