Specialist Caseworker – Exploitation & Youth Violence

Role:                Specialist Caseworker – Exploitation & Youth Violence
Location:         Greater Manchester
Hours:              Full Time (Monday to Friday)
Pay:                  £23,500 - £27,000 per annum
Start Date:       As soon as possible
Duration:         FTC until End of August 2025

 

Our client, a prominent charity is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to join their Liaison and Diversion Team. The charity is well-known for its innovative, peer-led services that support individuals facing severe disadvantages, including those involved in serious youth violence and gang-related activities. You will be part of a high-quality, client-focused team, working across various locations, including local authority multi-agency teams, hospitals, and community settings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess clients referred to the service, utilising established assessment practices.
  • Develop and implement support plans and risk management strategies, promoting inter-agency collaboration.
  • Build and maintain relationships with referral agencies such as police, Youth Offending Teams, and local authorities.
  • Provide holistic support services, including social support, housing assistance, and advocacy.
  • Close cases efficiently, ensuring clients have a plan for ongoing support.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the evaluation of the project.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding and training requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • A deep understanding of the complex issues facing at-risk children and young people
  • Experience providing support, advice, and advocacy, with the ability to assess clients’ needs.
  • Relevant direct or indirect experience of offender-led support, the criminal justice system, or lived experience of the issues facing this client group (substance misuse, drug supply, county lines, gangs or knife crime, social exclusion and isolation, child criminal exploitation, adverse childhood experiences and trauma) or currently serving a prison sentence with eligibility for Release on Temporary License (ROTL).
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and case management databases.
  • Knowledge of County Lines (drug distribution networks) and the Government's Prevent programme.
  • A proactively emotionally resilient Caseworker that can engage positively and successfully with challenging individuals, including those with complex needs, reluctance to discuss their needs and emotional turmoil
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service would be highly desirable
