Hours:                 Full Time 37.5 hours Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

 

Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in the Black Country is looking to recruit a Children and Young People's Advocate to join their team.

 

Synopsis of duties:

Deliver evidence based one to one interventions, group work and advice in a variety of locations (primarily education establishments), across Wolverhampton with an aim to build resilience in children and young people.

Offer general awareness of healthy/unhealthy relationships, confidence & self-esteem, managing & understanding emotions, promoting resilience and managing challenges, and identifying and developing healthy coping strategies.

. Create a safe, age-appropriate space to work with young people, encouraging them to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings. Work will include sensitively challenging experiences and decision making and working to develop early identification of emerging issues, coping strategies, seeking help and knowledge of healthy relationships.

. To make referrals and work together with other services to create the best outcomes for young people and, their families, including domestic violence and abuse support services, drug and alcohol services and mental health and wellbeing services.

. Ensure that cases are sensitively managed, case management systems are accurately completed and risk assessments and support plans are in place and approved. In particular, ensuring that a clear safety and support plan has been created prior to school holidays and relevant referrals for support have been made.

. Develop and deliver training and awareness to a wide range of professionals working with young people on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and witnessing DVA in the home.

 

Essential Requirements:

· Educated to degree level or equivalent GCSEs English and Mathematics – Grade C or above

· Experience of working with children/young people, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately

· Experience of using risk assessments and appropriate interventions tools to manage and identify risk

· Experience of managing a caseload
